6 of my current skincare saviours

I don’t know about you, but the wintery weather has really wreaked havoc with my skin. After making a New Year’s resolution to drink at least two litres of water a day (amongst numerous other things) my skin was really looking the clearest it has done for a while. But like all resolutions – they’re so hard to stick to – and combined with an over-indulgent trip to Copenhagen and stressful days at work in a heated office, my skin really isn’t loving me at the moment. It’s dry, stressed, tired and spotty and is in need of saving!

For me, the most important part of any beauty regime should be skincare, so I’ve decided to freshen up my skincare routine. I’m on a mission to do all the things you know you should do, but don’t always do – wear sunscreen, cleanse, tone and moisturise, and of course drink as much water as possible.

Here are my ultimate skinscare saviours as well as a few new products which I’ve treated myself to, to see if they can work their magic!

#1: REN Rosa Centifolia™ Cleansing Gel
I love gel cleansers that foam into a face wash – ones you can even rub your eyes with to really get every last trace of mascara off  – but they’re hard to find as a lot can be too harsh on the skin.

Enter REN Rosa Centifolia™ Cleansing Gel.

This cleanser by REN is so gentle on the skin, is made from natural ingredients and has a lovely calming rose smell. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight but is so effective in removing make-up and daily grime that your skin feels squeaky clean after!

#2 l’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Wash

I’ve heard really good things about the L’Oreal Pure Clay masks so when I saw they’ve now brought out a range of daily face washes, I had to get one. I opted for the Detox wash which combines three pure clays and charcoal to cleanse, clarify and detoxify my skin. They are the same texture as a clay face mask but when they’re massaged into wet skin they foam up into a face wash and your skin is left feeling like you’ve just had a 15 minute face mask on, genius idea!

#3: No7 Early Defence moisturisers

This probably sounds ridiculous, but in the last couple of years I’ve noticed that I’m starting to get faint lines around my eyes. I’m not the sort of person that’s terrified of finding wrinkles – I believe age is something to embrace and be proud of – but if anything it’s made me realise that I need to start looking after my skin more and it’s never to early to start. I love No7’s Early Defence range as it’s targeted at younger skin and protects and boots young skin’s natural defences to help keep it looking younger for longer. I use the daycream every morning and the eye cream too and It’s my favourite moisturiser I’ve used so far.

#4: Malin + Goetz 10% sulphur paste

This is hands down the best spot treatment ever created. When you break out, you just need to get a cotton bud and dip it in the paste and apply it directly to the spot. It’s best applied at night so you can let it work its magic while your asleep and then wipe it off  in the morning, as it does leave white spots on your face! This miracle potion completely reduces the size of the spots and works to dry them and kill the bacteria that may cause any more spots to break out, hurrah!

#5: Khiel’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

There’s something about applying oils to my skin that feels so luxurious and I love having this as part of my night-time skincare routine. I use a few drops on my skin instead of a moisturiser after cleansing and the beautiful lavender smell helps me relax and feel ready to sleep when my mind won’t stop whirring. Enriched with essential oils, it helps to repair your skin while you sleep and makes you wake up with more supple, hydrated and youthful skin – what’s not to love?! This is something I’ll definitely keep repurchasing!

#6 Garnier Moisture Bomb Multi Protecting Hydrating Mist

I only picked this up the other day and haven’t had chance to use it yet, but apparently this is a new generation of mist that instantly refreshes skin and protects it from daily aggressions: UV Pollution and oxidation. You can even apply it over make-up! I’m excited to use this for a quick moisture boost and it’s the perfect size to pop in your handbag for a mid-afternoon skin refresh. I’d love to know if any of you have tried it and what you think of it!

I’d love to know your winter skincare routine – what products are saving your skin at the moment? Comment below and let me know (I may have to give them a go!)
